Yes Starryeyed is still in business. I personally do not play it anymore because all too often players, including myself, get viruses, trojans, adware, spyware, etc. I do have good software and techniques now to keep my system free of this crap, so perhaps in the future I may try this site again. If nothing else it is a good test for my prevention and removal tools, lol.On a positive note, I do have to hand it to the webmaster/owner for honesty and perseverance. Members here (at this forum) are aware of the falling prices paid for web ads and page views, which is the primary, or even exclusive, income source for on line free lottos. Spud explained this (the econimics of the business) to us in a thread once. In face of this adversity, the Starryeyed owner just keeps plugging away. She states on her website that winners will be paid, but it may take a long time. The way it works is each claim gets put into a queue. Oldest claims are paid first when revenue is available. None are lost, or ignored. Although she does not always answer all emails, I think she has answered all mine (about malware). It is written on the site that she does not have time to answer mails about unpaid wins, and she feels it is better to spend the time trying to raise revenue to make the wait shorter. All wins claimed are recorded, saved and will be paid in the order they came, the site states. As bad as that might sound, it is clear, honest, and given the current climate of the free lotto business, completely understandable. Bottom line: If you play, you will probably get spyware/adware and maybe even viruses, so take measures to prevent this, or clean up after you play.. If you win, it will take a long time to get paid. In truth, players get malware from many free lotto/contest sites, not just this one. And, sometimes players get completely stiffed on wins, or the game is rigged so nobody ever wins, on other sites. Knowing that, although Stareyeyed is not on the top of the list, it is not on the bottom either. Michael Paluch Edited by - mjp65 on 07/31/2004 10:42:20 |
